What was life like for Jack "the Blackman" McCord in west central Illinois

By researching Jack "the Blackman" McCord I intend to bring some clarity to their relationship. I believe that Black Jack... as they called him deserves wider attention and recognition. I want him to be remembered as a REAL person and a valued member of the community.
