Bonus: Interview with governor candidate Bill Walker and running mate Randy Hoffbeck

We’re in the home stretch of the primary campaign, with voters narrowing the field in races for Congress, Legislature and for governor. Today we hear from a familiar voice in our series of interviews with candidates for governor. Bill Walker was Alaska’s 11th governor from 2014 to 2018. He suspended his reelection campaign late in the 2018 race after his lieutenant governor abruptly resigned amid controversy. Walker threw his hat back in the ring this year just ahead of the deadline to enter the race. He’s running as an independent, with running mate Randy Hoffbeck. The two told Alaska Public Media’s Eric Stone they’re prepared to take on the many challenges facing the state.
