Alaska Public Media state government reporter Eric Stone is back with another in our series of interviews with gubernatorial hopefuls. Republican Matt Heilala is a foot and ankle surgeon and, until last year, led the Alaska State Medical Board. He’s been a Republican donor for years, and this year, instead of donating to other candidates, he’s betting on himself. He’s dumped $1.5 million into his own campaign for governor.
