Bonus: Interview with governor candidate Jonathan Kreiss-Tomkins

Seventeen candidates are in the running to be Alaska's next governor. Alaskans are already heading to the polls for early voting in the Aug. 18 nonpartisan, pick-one primary, which will narrow the field to four. In this interview, we'll hear from Jonathan Kreiss-Tomkins, a former Democratic state Representative and one of the top Democrats in the gubernatorial race. Kreiss-Tomkins was born and raised in Sitka and, at the age of 23, won his first election to the state House, beating his Republican rival by just a few dozen votes. He represented his hometown and rural communities in Southeast Alaska at the state Capitol for a decade.
