In 1976, legendary filmmaker Sidney Lumet, fresh off his highly acclaimed Dog Day Afternoon, took on one of the most audacious screenplays ever scripted by Oscar-winner Paddy Chayefsky called Network. The film, a sharp satire about a down-on-his-luck news anchor who sets off a chain of events that seemed far-fetched at the time yet seemingly prophetic as the film entered the new millennium. But does the film deserve the many Oscar nominations (and wins for acting and writing) or should it be given a public execution? MovieDude Eric, Kent and Chris tune in to find out.
