28. Still Friends (Bachelor AU S5 E1-2)

Matty J's season of The Bachelor has officially begun, so we pull apart the big events of the first week; including limo exits, Matty's one-on-one time with Elora & Lisa, and the season's first Group Date. We take a hard look at some of the cultural stereotypes that pervade the show, and cast a critical eye towards the more insensitive moments in both these first episodes and the subsequent media response. In doing this, we make a variety of intertextual references, particularly to other examples of Peak TV such as Young Sheldon (premiering on CBS this November).
