*Note: We wholeheartedly apologize for the background noise in this audio. The nearby traffic didn’t seem so loud at the time we filmed. We thought about refilming, but feared it would seem inauthentic if we did that. Some moments are so special, they can’t be captured twice. So, here you go. I’m praying that despite the noise, it encourages you. ❤️

I4 years ago, I ran for my life out of the motel room my family lived in. I was almost 15 and my father had just beaten me up… again. I ran until my lungs felt like they would explode, finally stopping in the farthest, darkest corner of the parking lot I could find. My face was bloody and I didn’t know where to go or who to call. Between sobs, I asked God to help me.
“I called out your name, O God, called from the bottom of the pit. You listened when I called out, ‘Don’t shut your ears! Get me out of here! Save me!’ You came close when I called out. You said, ‘It’s going to be all right.’”
- Lamentations 3:55-57 MSG
God has been unbelievably kind to me. So much has changed since that night. Today I am safe, happy, and healthy. I’ve written 3 devotional books to encourage others who are on their own healing journey, and I’m about to release my first non-fiction book. I have gotten to share the Gospel at events around the country and have seen God redeem lives the way He has redeemed my own.
Recently, I returned to that corner of the parking lot I once ran to, but this time in the light of day with nothing to fear. In my upcoming book, To the Unloved, I share all the ways God has rescued me. How He healed me and interceded mightily in my life. To the Unloved will be released on January 25, 2022. For now, I just want to leave you with this. If you are going through something painful and it feels like everyone has left you to face it alone, please know that God NEVER will. You have a Heavenly Father who will always show up for you. God truly does have the power to rescue you, and He will prove it in your life. You just wait and see.
