Description
Tonight, we are talking about the ways fear tries to control our lives, and how to overcome it with faith.
My past experiences used to keep me in constant terror of the future. At first, letting go of my past and the fear (that honestly felt like a security blanket) was hard. Looking back now, I know now that my perspective was distorted. Even though fear often held me back and kept me up at night, it felt like it was also protecting me. How else would I see danger coming? When God first started to help me overcome it, I felt as though I was stranded at sea and God was taking my life raft away. I was so wrong! In this metaphor, fear was not safety from danger, but one of the dangers itself. I thought fear was helping me, but really, I was drowning in it! Faith in God taught me how to swim, empowering me to stay above the waves life brings. He saved me.
The truth is, fear tries to convince us we are weak but God makes us strong. Tonight, let’s talk about how to be less intimidated by circumstances, face our fears, and live courageously with Christ!
